Welcome to the Green Urban Living Center! The Green Urban Living Center (GULC) is a new initiative of Miami Dade College's North Campus. Established in June of 2007, GULC is part of the School of Community Education of Miami Dade College.

Certified Wildlife Habitat

Effective October 2008, the Green Urban Living Center is now an official National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Certified Wildlife Habitat!
We are proud to be part of a prestigious group of NWF members across the country who are recognized for protecting and nurturing wildlife in educational settings and community spaces.

GULC's mission is to:
  • Promote Environmental Awareness
  • Promote Community Health and Self-Care
  • Provide ongoing "Green Collar" professional training in new and emerging industries
In order to accomplish out objectives, GULC offers classes available to the public. As we grow and develop, GULC will also seek to offer community workshops, speakers, and special events at our center.

If you have any questions, concerns or inquiries of us, please feel free to contact us or call Program Coordinator Marcia Anderson at 305-237-1138 or e-mail Manders2@mdc.edu

GULC's Green Tip of the Week

Did you know?

GULC is helping protect and restore mangroves by growing seedlings to be planted in a restoration project in the fall, and we now have a native seedling nursery on site!

This week's tip: Keep It Moving or Turn It Off!

Idling is one of the worst wastes of gas, especially for bigger cars. If you'll be stopped for more than 30 seconds, kill the engine; restarting it burns less fuel than the idling. Also, instead of inching ahead in drive-throughs, be motor-savvy by parking the vehicle and going inside.

Did you know that GULC is a GREAT place for field trips? Contact us for information about bringing in your group for a fun filled, green experience!
