    Certified Pool Operator

    A: This National Swimming Pool Foundation’s Certified Pool Operator® (CPO®) course teaches pool professionals how to properly maintain their pools in accordance with state regulations and industry standards. This program will teach participants pool maintenance practices to reduce long-term expenses, increase the efficiency of pool systems, and prevent accidents.

This course is not intended for persons interested in opening their own pool maintenance company.     Students can sign up to MyMDC Account by visiting the Computer Courtyards at any of the MDC College campuses.

    Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE)

    A: Prior to enrollment, you must complete the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE). To schedule a test date please call (305) 237-1015. For TABE information, please visit: http://www.mdc.edu/north/newstudentcenter/testing.asp

    Proof of Florida residency,Goverment/State issued picture ID, social security card, and age waiver (if you are 16-17 yrs of age).

    Once you complete the TABE, you can begin the GED preparation courses online or at one of our campuses.

    This program is offered to you at no cost, but you may purchase addistional materials to you help prepare for the test.

    GED testing fee is $50.00 and there are several testing sites; for locations visit: http://data.fldoe.org/gedsites/.

    A: Go to Room 1123, Window # 1, to complete admission procedure form. Social Security card and Florida ID are required.

    Go to Room 1160 or Call (305) 237 -1015 to make an appointment for the TABE test.

    Documents required for test: a) College Admission - College Student Number. b) Florida Picture ID.

    After 3 working days, go in person to Room 1125 for your test results, placement and pre-registration. Please bring in your social security card and Florida ID..

    A: All you need is any Internet connection. You can access our site from PCs, Macs, laptops, at work, at home, from a library, from a rented computer at Kinko's, from Internet Cafes, while traveling, in the middle of the night, etc. Some classes have additional requirements.     Why are only two lessons released per week?

    A: If you move ahead, you don't get to participate in the online discussion feature, practice what you've learned, or let the learning have time to "cook", or settle in. The quality of the course is somewhat compromised if you are drilling through the course content. Remember how much you actually learned when you were "cramming for finals?"

    A: We recommend that you start out with only one or two online courses per month, until you get a feel for the pace of these courses and how they work with your own schedule. Although the courses are interactive, they are "print rich" and it's easy to get behind.

    I was able to log in to the first two lessons, but now my access is denied. What's wrong?

    A: You will be able to access your classroom for the first week free of charge following the start date. If you have not paid by the end of business on the Tuesday following the start date, your classroom access will be temporarily suspended. You will have an additional week to pay and re-enter your classroom. Once payment has been made, access will be reactivated within one business day. Non-payment does not cause the course to be dropped.

    A: Yes. You are responsible for payment, whether or not you participate, unless you drop by the drop date. Non-credit Community Education Online classes may be dropped for a reversal of charges, if they are dropped by the Tuesday following the course start date.
