GOVERNOR CRIST APPOINTS NEW MEMBER TO MDC’S DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND REAPPOINTS CURRENT MEMBER

Miami, Sept. 20, 2007 – Florida Governor Charlie Crist has appointed prominent Miami attorney and community leader Robert H. Fernandez to serve on the Miami Dade College District Board of Trustees. He is an attorney with the renowned national firm of Akerman Senterfitt. In addition, Crist reappointed Peter W. Roulhac, CEO of the Orange Bowl Foundation.

Fernandez specializes in the areas of disaster preparedness, recovery, commercial policy and litigation. As former Deputy General Counsel for the Executive Office of the Governor, Fernandez assisted with pending litigation, executive orders, legislative bills, and public records law, among other legal issues. He is a graduate of Columbia University and New York University School of Law.

Among his many professional activities, Fernandez also serves on the Board of Governors of the Hispanic National Bar Association.

Roulhac is the Executive Director of the Orange Bowl Foundation. He is also a 30-year veteran of community involvement, including service with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, U.S. Treasury Department, president of the Private Industry Council of Dade County and vice-president of Equal Opportunity and Human Resource Policy at Southeast Bank.

Meantime, MDC Board of Trustees Vice-Chairman Hank Klein is leaving the board. During his distinguished tenure, Klein served the college and community with great dedication and passion. He will continue to make an impact as the chair of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
