MIAMI DADE COLLEGE’S CAMPUS NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES WIN TOP HONORS FROM THE FLORIDA COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRESS ASSOCIATION
MIAMI, October 24, 2007- Miami Dade College’s (MDC) campus student literary magazines and student newspapers have been awarded top awards from the Florida Community College Press Association (FCCPA). The awards, announced this month, are given yearly to the top literary magazines and newspapers in the community college arena. The awards, given in separate categories for newspapers and magazines, are for student work during the 2006-07 academic year.
MDC’s Kendall Campus’ student literary magazine, Miambiance was awarded First Place for General Excellence, and garnered 13 individual awards for works published in issue 17. The Kendall Campus student newspaper, The Catalyst, gleaned 10 awards for work done throughout the year.
In addition, MDC’s Wolfson Campus student literary magazine, Metromorphosis, captured eight awards including Third Place for General Excellence while the student newspaper, Metropolis, won in five separate categories.
The MDC North Campus student literary magazine, Axis, snared four awards in its first year competing, while the student newspaper, The Falcon Times, obtained two awards.
