Flamenco Dancing and Discussion

Miami, Oct. 5, 2007 – America is mesmerized by the “Dancing with the Stars” television show.  In South Florida, dances with origins in Spain and Latin America are especially popular. With that in mind, the Department of Communications, Arts, and Philosophy at Miami Dade College’s InterAmerican Campus presents “Flamenco Dancing and Discussion with Cristina Masdueño” at the College’s Tower Theater on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 12:30 pm. 

 

Cristina Masdueño is a professional flamenco dancer and instructor who will dance and talk about the different styles of flamenco dancing, as well as the different ethnic influences that have been incorporated into its development to arrive at its present day form.  In addition to talking about the various forms of flamenco, Masdueño will also discuss the props used in the dance, such as castanets, Spanish fans, and mantillas.

 

This is a free event for the community.   Metered parking is free on the weekend.
