FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MIAMI DADE COLLEGE STUDENTS NOW GET FULL TUITION WITH

BRIGHT FUTURES Medallion Scholarships

- New Rules Now in Effect -

MIAMI, July 3, 2006 – Eligible student recipients of Bright Future Scholarships enrolled at Miami Dade College (MDC) can now benefit from revised rules in funding to offset their tuition costs. New rules went into effect Saturday,  July 1, 2006.

The changes to the Bright Future Scholarship Program now make it more affordable for student recipients to receive a community college education.  Florida Medallion Scholars, who are eligible for grants of up to 75% of the tuition cost at state universities, may receive funding of up to 100% of tuition costs at a community college.  These scholarships may be used as early as the coming fall term by enrolled students seeking an associate degree.

The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program uses proceeds from the Florida Lottery to provide funding for students who wish to pursue postsecondary education in Florida. More than 130,000 Florida students received funding for a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship during the 2004-05 award year.

Miami Dade College offers hundreds of majors and excellent academic programs in a smaller-sized classroom setting. Many of the programs boast state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge technology that allow students hands-on training. The College has eight campuses and outreach centers located throughout Miami-Dade County, and offers evening classes that make it easier for students to obtain a degree while working fulltime.

There is an extensive program of financial aid scholarships available for students who wish to attend. Prospective and current students are encouraged to discuss their financial needs with MDC advisers by calling 305-237-8888.
