INNOVATIVE MORTGAGE FINANCE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
OFFERED AT MIAMI DADE COLLEGE
Miami, November 30, 2007 - The mortgage lending industry, which plays a vital role in the home buying process, provides a variety of exciting career opportunities for enterprising individuals. Miami Dade College (MDC) School of Business offers the Certificate Program in Mortgage Finance for students who would like to explore careers in the mortgage field, as well as for individuals already working in the industry who want to advance their careers. Classes begin on Jan. 8, 2008, at MDC’s North Campus at 11380 NW 27th Avenue, Miami.
The program, which can be completed in one year, equips students with the knowledge and skills to assist homeowners with the mortgage application process. Convenient evening and weekend classes accommodate students’ busy schedules. Scholarships are available and will be awarded on a first -come, first-served and financial need basis to qualified applicants.
The program places special emphasis on developing professionals who are knowledgeable about affordable housing and community lending policies and procedures and can assist underserved individuals and populations.
After completing the 31-credit certificate program, graduates work in settings including mortgage companies, banks, nonprofit housing organizations, and government agencies. Some mortgage professionals launch their own businesses.
“Students in the Mortgage Finance Certificate Program at MDC receive college credit leading to an Associate in Science degree in financial services,” says Teddie Laing, department chairperson at MDC’s School of Business. “And the Certificate Program is more affordable and comprehensive than private training opportunities and programs.”
