MIAMI DADE COLLEGE PRESENTS TOWN HALL MEETING
WITH APPLE VICE PRESIDENT
Miami, December 3, 2007 – Miami Dade College will present a town hall meeting-style dialogue with John Couch, Apple’s Vice President for Education. Couch will discuss issues relating to higher education and technology in the 21st century.
General admission to the event is free-of-charge. Refreshments will be provided.
MDC has long been regarded as an IT leader and has garnered numerous awards and distinctions as a result. For the past several years, the college has placed in the top ten institutions for cutting-edge IT services offered to students, faculty and staff by the Center of Digital Information. The college also received the Dell Higher Education Recycling Leadership Award for its innovative computer recycling and reuse programs. In addition, MDC was named the nation’s second most “wired” college by Yahoo in 2005.
Beyond the awards, MDC has prioritized IT enhancements at its eight campuses. From smart classrooms to state-of-the-art human body simulators and flight machines, technology is a cornerstone at the college. MDC is also home to the Emerging Technology Center of the Americas (ETCOTA), a cutting-edge facility at its Wolfson Campus that houses high tech labs, 21 multimedia classrooms, an auditorium with full wireless and video conferencing capabilities, and other areas where students train in partnership with industry for the key IT jobs of today and tomorrow. MDC is also an Apple iTunes university.
