ACCESS Disability Services provides assistance to students and prospective
students who identify as having a disability. The American with Disabilities
Act ADA defines disability as a physical or mental impairment that
substantially limits one or more major life activities of said individual,
has a record of this impairment, or is regarded as having such an
impairment.
ACCESS Disability Services also provides appropriate services to students
who have temporary disabilities. Persons who have physical, visual,
hearing, speech, psychological, neurological, learning disabilities
and chronic illnesses are considered eligible for accommodations under
the ADA.
Appropriate documentation describing the nature of the disability
is required and must be kept on file in the ACCESS Disability department.
Verification of a disability is accepted from physicians, psychologists,
learning disability specialists, audiologists, and counselors from
the Division of Blind Services or the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
