Jazz Ensemble

Jazz Ensemble is a two (2) credit course that meets five hours per week. The ensemble is a select Group, and participation is by audition/permission of the instructor. The ensemble has instrumentation of 20 musicians: 5 Trumpets, 5 Trombones, 5 Saxes and a 5-piece Rhythm section.
The Miami Dade Jazz Ensemble performs a cross section of music: swing, rock, Latin, avant garde and fusion. The Band has performed in Montreux, Switzerland; North Sea, Holland; Umbria, Italy; and toured Africa, Brazil and Mexico.
Concerts are also scheduled in local High Schools, various community functions, and local jazz festivals. Renowned jazz Artists have performed with our Jazz Ensemble and have participated in some clinics; notable mentions include Wynton Marsalis, Michael and Randy Brecker and others. |
