JUBA Gospel Choir
In New York City, during the years 1993 and 1994, JUBA participated in the National Black Music Caucus of the New York Collegiate Gospel Competition, placing first in the areas of most outstanding choir, original attire and choreography.
JUBA was the only community college ensemble present competing against such notable four-year colleges and universities as Cornell, Princeton and Berklee. This is an activity in which they participate every year. Most recently, JUBA recorded their first live CD entitled "Red Velvet Cake" which includes Gladys Knight's recipe for Red Velvet Cake.
This project includes songs written by Professor Wayne Bumpers, Rev. Melvin Dawson, Dello Thedford and two former Miami-Dade music students, Rev. Glenn Lee and Gordon Smith.
