Description

The University of New Mexico, classified in the highest doctoral research categories among universities, has hundreds of degrees available through its Main and Health Science Center campuses. Established in 1889, it is home to many nationally ranked programs in medicine, engineering, business, law, education, fine arts, physical sciences, and the humanities.

Transfer Agreement Highlights

MDC students who graduate with an AA will be admitted as juniors and will be granted all general education requirements from UNM. Likewise, students who complete the associate of science (AS), or 60 transferable credit hours will have an opportunity to seamlessly transfer from MDC to UNM. The agreement makes it easier for students to transfer from MDC to UNM and either transition to the Albuquerque, New Mexico campus or complete bachelor and advanced degrees through distance education.

Scholarships

As part of the agreement, MDC students who transfer to UNM are eligible for the Amigo Scholarships program which reduces out-of-state tuition rate to resident level, and provides additional stipend.  The current value of the scholarships is approximately $14,100 per year, plus a $200 stipend for undergraduate students. Scholarship recipients are selected based on upon their application for admission and academic credentials. Selection is competitive and may require more than minimum requirements.

Minimum eligibility requirements for transfer students:

  • A combined transfer college GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • A combined cumulative transfer college GPA of 3.25 or higher
