The Miami Dade College Baseball team has 7 players selected in the 2009 MLB Draft. SS-Mycal Jones selected in round 4 by the Atlanta Braves, RF-Jabari Blash selected in round 9 by the Texas Rangers, C/RHP-Eric Curtis selected in round 28 by the Boston Red Sox, RHP-Jose Ovedio selected in round 31 by the Milwaukee Brewers, LHP-Matt Laney selected in round 42 by the Philadelphia Phillies, 2B-Adrian Morales selected in round 45 by the Houston Astros, and RHP-Rey Cotilla selected in round 48 by the Milwaukee Brewers. Last season, the MDC Baseball team had 8 players drafted, leading all two-year colleges in the nation.
The Miami Dade College baseball team finished the season 38-12, 17-7 in conference, while two players were named NJCAA All Americans. Mycal Jones-1st Team All American and Logan Dodds-2nd Team All American. The Sharks were also Southern Conference Champions and placed 14 players on All Conference Teams. First Team All Conference: Mycal Jones, Jabari Blash, Logan Dodds, Jose Behar, David Vidal, Chris Pelaez, Jose Capote. Second Team All Conference: Rick Perez, Yoandy Barosso, Adrian Morales, and Honorable Mention: Raydel Sanchez, Jonathan Abreu, Eric Curtis, Osmani Sanchez. |

| The MDC Softball team is ranked No. 7 in the State. The Lady Sharks are currently in conference play, with a 25-17, 9-4 record so far this season. Led by freshman pitcher Erika Bennett 17-5, with 181 strike outs, .833 ERA, freshman Vivian Morimoto batting .405 and freshman Simone Suetsugu batting .387. Click for more details ... |

The Lady Shark Softball team won the Triple Crown Classic held in Augustine, FL by beating the NJCAA pre-season nationally ranked No. 2, Chattanooga State.

The Miami Dade College men’s and women’s basketball programs place 3 players on the All-State Team for the 2008-09 season. Women’s basketball stand out Kquanise Byrd, and men’s basketball players Trevor Mbakwe and Rico Pickett are all named to the 2009 All-State Team.
The women’s basketball team, led by the #1 scorer in the state and #3 scorer in the Nation (24.3 ppg), Byrd, finished the season 15-13, 8-3 in conference. The Lady Sharks were defeated in the 1st round of the State Tournament by Gulf Coast Community College.
The men’s basketball team, led by Trevor Mbakwe, who is ranked #1 in the state for rebounds, #4 for FG percentage, and #6 for blocks per game. Mbakew is nationally ranked at #3 for rebounds and #18 for blocks. Also, stand out guard Rico Pickett is ranked #11 in the state for scoring at 17.3 ppg. The Sharks finished their season 26-3 wihile being defeated in the 1st round of the State Tournament by Gulf Coast Community College. |

| The Miami Dade men’s basketball team was ranked as high as No. 3 in the Nation and No. 2 in the State. The Sharks finish their season 26-3, 12-0 in conference. The Sharks qualified for the FCCAA State Championship Tournament, but were defeated in the first round of play by Gulf Coast. The team was led by Trevor Mbakwe who was named to the FCCAA All State Team, Southern Conference Player of the Year, and First Team All Southern Conference. Led by Sophomore OH Rosa Medrano who was named 1st Team NJCAA All American, NJCAA All Tournament Team, FCCAA Tournament MVP, All State/All Region Team, FCCAA All Tournament Team, and 1st Team Southern Conference.
