The Miami Dade College baseball team has begun their Spring 2011 season. The Sharks are currently 11-4, and ranked No. 3 in the state. Under new Head Coach Danny Price, the Sharks were ranked No. 1 in the state in last week's poll rankings, but despite a loss in a double-header to Seminole State, 4-2, 6-5, and dropped two slots. The team is led by Brian Goodwin, batting .395, with 3 HR's, 12 RBI's, and 14 runs scored, Ozney Gullien .400, 8 RBI's, 5-5 stolen bases, and Andrew Rodriguez .391, 9 RBI's, 9 runs scored. MDC Pitching is led by Kenner Elizalde 1.00 ERA, 11 k's, and Derek Law 1.38, 42k's.
The Sharks defeated Northwood University JV 16-6 on February 23rd, and were led by Leonardo Rojas who went 3-5, 4 RBI, Andres Nelo 2-3, 2 RBI, and Eric Acevedo 3-5, RBI. The winning pitcher was Dayan Rodriguez, who is 1-0 on the season, with 7 strike outs. |
