A men's basketball player attempts to dribble past an opponent

  • Miami Dade College Men's Basketball has endured some pains in the second half of the season, losing two of its top players to injuries. The team now holds an overall record of 14-7 and a Southern Conference record of 1-3 record.

When the team traveled to Indian River State College, it won 87-76 with Sophomore Darius Perkins scoring 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Also leading the team was Sophomore Michael Calder, who scored 20 points.

The joy of victory was short-lived, however, as the team crashed back to earth with a 86-72 defeat at the hands of Eastern Florida State College – an out-of-character effort that saw a sharp decline in points and rebounds.

The team went into the next game against Palm Beach State looking to recapture its early-season form, opening the first half of the game with a strong effort but ultimately fell short, losing the conference match-up 75-53 and scoring the season's lowest point total.

The men's basketball team aims to get its bite back on home court when they face Indian River State College on Monday, January 27th at 7 p.m.
