Miami Dade College Lady Sharks Volleyball (No. 10) played the Indian River State College Pioneers last night in their last home game of the season and won the match 3-1 (25-20, 25-15, 23-25, 25-18). The match had its stand-outs with Stephanie Hernandez, with 22 digs; sophomore Haley Foote, with 23 assists; and freshman Carelis Rojas with 18. This was also a great game for sophomore Wendy Romero, who rocked the match with 24 kills and 11 digs.
On this night, the coaches also showed their appreciation to sophomores Giuliana Ballarin, Jovanna Santamaria, Haley Foote, Kayla Dowdell, Lakelia Cooper, Paola De Ayala, Stephanie Hernandez, and Wendy Romero for their drive and commitment to raising the team to a new level. The volleyball team now has an overall record of 12-4 and a Conference record of 7-0.
The Lady Sharks hit the road this weekend on October 11 and 12 to face off in the Florida State Colleges Volleyball Tournament of Champions, where they will play some of the top volleyball programs in the nation, such as No. 2 Hillsborough community College, No. 12 College of Central Florida, and No. 19 Florida State College of Jacksonville.
