    Gina De Aguero Head Coach

    She enters her fourth season as head coach of the Miami Dade College softball team. An MDC alumni and a former member of the Lady Sharks softball team, De Aguero earned
    an Associates of Arts degree in Education in 1999; and later transferred to St. Thomas University to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education in Social Studies in 2003.

    Coach De Aguero served as the Head Coach of the Miami Lady Canes traveling team, from 2008 to 2011. Last season, she led her team to the 2011 Fast Pitch National Champions and 2011
    State Champions. She also holds State Championships in 2009 and 2010 with the Lady Canes, 2008 State Runner up, and a 5th Fast Pitch National Championship finish in 2010. De Aguero also served as Assistant Coach at St. Brendan High School, 2005-2011,
    winning the 2005 & 2007 District Championships. From 2003-2005, she served as Assistant Softball Coach at St. Thomas University; and is presently working as a Special Education teacher at Atlantis Academy in Miami.

    Lauren Schmalz Assistant coach

    Schmalz attended Everglades High School in Miramar, FL from 2003-2007 where she led her team to 3 district titles, 2 regional titles and 1 State Championship. She was named 2006 & 2007 Sun Sentinel Player of the Year, 2006 & 2007 Miami Herald Pitcher of the Year, and 2007 Miami Herald Female Senior of the Year. She also earned EA Sports Second Team All-American honors in 2007.

    Lauren Schmalz enters her second season as the assistant/pitching coach of the Miami Dade College softball team. As an alumnus of Auburn University, Schmalz earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Criminology in 2012.

    During her 5-year tenure at Auburn University she was named SEC Pitcher of the Week for the week of 5/2/11 and 2/20/12. Schmalz had a career record at Auburn of 35-21 and a career ERA of 2.31.

    Coach Schmalz served as a volunteer assistant at Auburn University for the 2012-2013 season. Schmalz also served as an assistant coach with the West Pines Diamond Dusters travel organization and with Cooper City High School.
