In the first game Tallahasee pitcher Emely Smethurst dominated the Sharks offense allowing only two singles, while striking out 10 hitters in a complete game performance for a final score of 0x4. Cynthia Takahashi's single in the first and Veronika Fukunishi's double in the top of the seven were the only two Sharks that collected a hit versus Smethurst, who presented herself in great form throwing pitches in the high 64-67 MPH. Allora Miller, who also picthed in great form, was charged with the loss in a complete game allowing 4 hits and 4 earned runs. MDC played #3 national ranked Blinn Community College and fell in 9 innings with score of 3x6. The Sharks score 1 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a RBI single by Veronika Fukunishi and in the fifth inning on a Ashley Silveira homerun. Blinn tied the score in the top of the six inning on two-run homer by Ariel Gomez. The Sharks took the lead in the bottom of the same inning on a homerun by Cynthia Takahashi. Blinn tied the score in the top of the seven to send it to extra innings and scored three times in the top of the ninth. The Sharks played good Softball the entire tournament and fought in every game to the last out. They reperesented the college, city, and state very well at the National stage.
