The Miami Dade College women’s volleyball team are currently 13-15, and 4-4 in conference play. The Lady Sharks are currently ranked third in the Southern Conference. The ladies are currently ranked first in FCSAA’s Region 8 D1, and fifth in the nation with 2167 digs. Player Adara Anselmo is ranked first in Region 8 D1 and third in the NJCAA with 7.38 digs per set. She is also ranked third in Region 8 D1 with 450 digs, following behind Anselmo are several MDC players who are ranked in the Top 21: Thalia Torres (14th), Naimir Garcia (13th), Kelsey Taylor (19th), and Yamilet Velazquez (21st). Freshman Naimir Garcia is currently ranked fifth in Region 8 D1 with 324 kills, she is also ranked 10th in the kills per set category. Sophomore and leader Kelsey Taylor is currently ranked 5th in Region 8 D1 with 9.10 assists per set. In addition to all of the players’ individual accolades MDC has a total of six players who have made the FCSAA 25 Dig Club for a total of sixteen times.
The Lady Sharks are learning how to deal with something new within their program this season. Miami Dade College Volleyball is currently 12-15, and 3-4 in conference play.
Two former Miami Dade College volleyball players and NJCAA All- Americans participated in the 2015 Volleyball World Grand Prix.
The Miami Dade College volleyball team who are the reigning 2014 FCSAA State Champions received their championship rings on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
