MDC Lady Sharks Volleyball Team


Volleyball Tournament Schedule

 

 
 

The 2010 Miami Dade College volleyball team has been ranked No. 1 in the Nation for 5 straight weeks, with a team record of 14-0, 5-0 in conference.

The Lady Sharks are led by middle blocker Marifranchi Rodriguez, who was named NJCAA Player of the week, 9/22, from her performance at the Missouri West Plains Invitation Tournament. Rodriguez posted combined stats of 4. Kills, 32 blocks, 24 digs, and 8 aces. Sophomore Mima Hajdukovic, ranked 4th in the state for assists, 7.8 per game and 4th in the state for hitting efficiency 43.8%,and sophomore Yenifer Calcano, ranked 8th in the state for kills per game, 3.4 and 9th for blocks per game, have led the Lady Sharks to their undefeated season so far.

 
 

 

 
 

Former MDC Lady Shark Volleyball Player Madelayne Montano has equaled the record highest points' total in a women's match by scoring an astonishing 53 points.

NJCAA and AVCA All Americans

 
 

MDC sophomore Sandra Montoya and freshman, Yenifer Calcano were named 2009 NJCAA All Americans. Montoya, 1st Team, and Calcano, 2nd Team. These players were also honored as AVCA All Americans for the 2009 Season, along side Head Coach Kiko Benoit who was named AVCA Two-Year College Northeast-Southeast Region Coach of the Year.
