2008 Southern Conference Champions     Congratulations to the Lady Sharks on their Southern Conference Championship! The Lady Shark swill be competing in the State Championship Tournament March 5-8 in Marriana, Florida. Susan Summons has been coaching for 22 years at Miami Dade College and will be appearing in her 18th State Tournament. The Lady Sharks have won the Southern Conference six times, and have placed as the Southern Conference runner-up 12 times. Perhaps Coach Summons greatest achievement is that over 91% of her players have gone on to continue their education and basketball careers at four-year institutions, including recent Miami Dade standouts Courtney Cooper (University of Florida), Patty Hanten (Louisiana State University), Trish Patterson (University of Florida) and Alexandria Fernander (University of Miami).     FCCAA All-Southern Conference Team   Sophomore Center Dayna Rodriguez named FCCAA All-Southern Conference First Team Sophomore Forwqard Shebra Legrant named FCCAA All-Southern Conference First Team Sophomore Guard Aurelie Deronencourt named FCCAA All-Southern Conference First Team Sophomore Guard Kentrel Hill named FCCAA All-Southern Conference Second Team Head Coach Susan Summons named Conference Coach of the Year. Coach Summons is also one of the 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America. Sophomore Forward Sable Adams named FCCAA All-Southern Conference Honorable Mention     Including the success of the MDC Women's Basketball team 2008 Southern Conference Championship, five Lady Sharks have been named to the FCCAA All-Southern Conference Team. Leading the Sharks is Coach Susan Summons named Conference Coach of the Year, Dayna Rodriguez (1st team), Shebra Legrant (1st team), Aurelie Derenoncourt (1st team), Kentrell Hill (2nd team), and Sable Adams (Honorable Mention). WBCA and State Farm Recognize the JC/CC State Farm Coaches’ All America Team Miami Dade’s Dayna Rodriguez and Shebra Legrant are recognized as State Farm Coaches’ All America Team Honorable Mentions for JC/CC.         Campus Clean-Up The Lady Sharks Basketball Team participated in the campus wide clean up day.
