ABOUT THE MINORITY EXPORT TRAINING PROGRAM

The Minority Export Training Program helps small agri-business firms start or expand export sales. The program has three key objectives:
- Provide you knowledge, tools, resources and contacts to help you export;
- Find concrete international marketing and sales opportunities for you; and
- Ensure you have the cash flow to seize the opportunities you want.
The benefits of participation can be dramatic:
- The Produce Connection grew export sales from $1.054 million in 2005 to $4.59 million in 2008 using the tools and resources they learned of in the program.
- King’s Foliage Nursery saw 125% year-over-year growth in sales to Canada, achieving a $13:$1 revenue: expense ratio.
- Natural Fruit Corporation attributed $750,000 in new business to the program and projected $1,500,000 in new business the next year based on new markets and customers!
Composed of eight 3-hour sessions over four months,
the program highlights:
- Exporting basics
- Market research tools specific to food and agri-business firms
- Getting sales’ leads, access to trade shows, trade missions, reverse trade missions, and how to be reimbursed for 50% of your export marketing efforts!
- Shipping documentation, and getting your product to the customer on time.
