Professor Maritza Marrero started her career in the Hospitality industry in 1981 as a travel agent. As previous manager and co-owner of a travel agency, her experience includes managing staff, coordinating marketing events, obtaining ARC, IATA and CLIA certifications, and negotiating contracts with suppliers.
Throughout the years she has worked for Club Med Resorts, Continental Airlines, and in the sales and training department at Amadeus . As a trainer, she traveled throughout the United States and Central America training travel agents.
As a sales manager she met with owners of agencies and negotiated new contracts. In 1998 Maritza came to Miami Dade College to start a new phase of her career in education. In addition to teaching , Maritza is the Hospitality Student Association advisor. Maritza has a B.S. and an M.S. degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University.
