On October 27, 2015, selected MDC students competed in the Rising Star contest at the World Trade Group Conference held in Miami. This conference is focused on maximizing the supply chain in manufacturing and is held in various cities throughout the globe each year.
The MDC students were tasked to create a written response to a case study authored by a former Microsoft executive. In one minute presentations, the students presented their ideas for solving the case study. The judges were impressed, not only with the creative ideas given, but with the quality of work as well. To the surprise of the contestants, presentations were scheduled in the main conference room in front of many seasoned supply chain professionals. Though the process was tough, all of the students shined and represented MDC well. The winner of the competition was Ramiro Villamor, who was presented a trophy and the opportunity to blog about his experiences as a supply chain management student for a year.
