Here is a special map of the
North Campus. This is not a complete campus map. Instead it is
intended to show some locations not usually included on campus
maps that may be of interest to students with disabilities. This
section is intended to give you a little information about how
the college works so that it will be easier for you to get around.
There are eight academic buildings. They are not organized in
a logical pattern so you just have to learn what and where they
are. The buildings will be listed in numeric order with some brief
notes on each.
(1) Building 1000 is also
known as Scott Hall and is the main administrative building of
North Campus. It is where you register. Like all the other buildings
on campus, Scott Hall uses a logical numbering system for its
rooms. All the rooms on the first floor begin with a 1 for Scott
Hall and continue with a 1 for the first floor. Rooms on the second
floor begin with 12 and rooms on the third floor begin with 13.
This same approach is taken in all the other buildings so that
a room on the second floor of the 5000 building would begin with
52.
(2)The 2000 building is the library and is also where the audiovisual
area and the computer courtyard are housed. This area is a room
full of computers that can be used by any student any time to
do homework or to do research on the internet. The Courtyard has
an area where their computers are equipped with the access technology
some people with disabilities need.
(3) The 3000 building is where computer classes are located as
well as many of the vocational and occupational programs. There
is a cash machine on the first floor of the 3000 building and
there is a large group of vending machines for drinks and snacks
between the 3000 and 6000 buildings.
(4) The 4000 building is where the cafeteria is located along
with the bookstore and many of the meeting rooms that are used
by student organizations. This is also where most satellite-linked
classes or Student Life activities will happen.
(5) The 5000 building is the home of most of the fine arts programs
and is also where the college's theater is located.
(6) The 6000 building is where
many basic communications classes are held. Immediately in front
of the building is a sign and a designated area for Special Transportation
Services pick ups. You are certainly not required to use this
spot but it is a good idea to do so since most drivers know where
this location is on campus but may find it difficult to find you
if you choose to be picked up elsewhere.
(7) The 7000 building is where most English and Math classes
will be held and is also where both those departments are located.
(8) Finally, the 8000 building houses our programs in police
training and corrections.
There are pay phones located in most buildings and there are
TTD'S in Scott Hall and by the front door of the 6000 building.
Student parking is located
quite a distance away from most buildings. If you have a Florida
Disabled Parking Permit you can apply to security for a gate card
that will enable you to park in designated areas much closer to
buildings. If you have problems getting this card, please see
your counselor in our department.
