Summer Camps at Miami Dade College

It is summer time again! Here at Miami Dade College children and teens enjoy a fun and safe camp environment. There are camps for every interest and every age group. Before and after camp care is available to address the scheduling needs of parents. Whether your child is interested in robotics, art, performing arts, fashion, technology, or a camp experience that includes swimming and field trips, summer at Miami Dade College is a wonderful experience. Lunch and snacks and field trips are included in the fee for most of the camps.

Photoshop Level 1 for Teens (12-16) - $139

This is a perfect introductory course into the world of Photoshop. They will learn to create original images or retouch photographs with Adobe Photoshop CS6, the most powerful image-editing program used in photography for graphic, Web and motion graphics. This will serve as a guide through Photoshop’s essentials, the interface, navigation, selections, layers and channels.


Introduction to Public Speaking Teens (12-16) - $149

Captivate the audience! Students will enhance their public speaking abilities in a fun, relaxed atmosphere and learn about posture, body language and the proper way of addressing the audience.


Leadership Academy (12-16) - $155

Captivate the audience! Students will enhance their public speaking abilities in a fun, relaxed atmosphere and learn about posture, body language and the proper way of addressing the audience.


Portrait Photography for Teens (12-16) - $139

Students will discover new ways to improve their photographic skills by incorporating digital photography and focusing on the person’s face, expression, personality, pose and mood of the subject.

ArtSouth Creative Arts Summer Camp (Ages 6-15) - $85

Children experience the arts - dancing, visual arts, voice and musical instruments - in a fun, developmentally appropriate environment. Before and after care are available at an added cost.


LEGO Robotics Summer Camp (Ages 7-12) - $119

Participants will design, construct and program robots, using LEGO® Mindstorms NXT Robotics System, in a fun and challenging, hands-on learning environment while learning essential career skills such as time-management, collaboration and teamwork and problem solving.

Summer Music Experience (Age: 9-13) - $499 (2 Weeks)

Share your love of music with like-minded individuals as you play, sing and dance on stage to your favorite tunes. Let our team of world-class musicians guide you through this amazing music experience in a state-of-the-art music academy equipped with instruments, live stage and much more! This two-week long program, developed by Guillermo Valadá, founder and director of Let it Beat Music Academy, is offered in partnership with Miami Dade College School of Continuing Education and Professional Development.

Guillermo is a musician, producer, musical director and multi-Grammy Award winner who has worked with renowned artists like Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz, Jennifer Lopez, Chayanne and many others.

Learn to Code Summer Camp (Age: 12-17) - $1,750 (3 Weeks)

Develop your interest in coding while you learn through challenges. Each challenge will teach you a different coding concept while allowing you to acquire the skills to start building your own project. In this three-week long camp, you will learn coding basics and how to apply the knowledge gained through the completion of challenges to build websites and games.

Kids /Teen College Summer Program (Ages 7-17) $110 – $179

An educational yet fun environment where kids, teens and parents can customize their schedule and choose classes they like the most. Kids and teens can choose from a wide variety of weekly programs and activities such as Lego® Robotics, Computers and Technology, Science and Nature, Modeling, Reading, Photography and so much more!


Wild Things Happen Summer Camp (Ages 5-11) – $155

A traditional all-day camp where children will enjoy daily and weekly activities such as computers, field trips, swimming, indoor and outdoor games, arts & crafts and much more. Field trips included. Lunch and snacks included.

Kidscene Camp (Ages 5-11) - $120

Campers participate in reading, swimming, social skills, sports, music and environmental activities. Field trips included. Lunch and snacks included. Register students for one week, or select one of the three or nine week clusters and save. No activities July 4.


Lego Machines (Ages 6 - 8) - $153

Amazing Weeks Full of Fun! More advanced level of construction and programming based on age group. Kids will learn basic static structures used in robotics by applying the fundamentals of math and science concepts while building and programing their robots. They will enjoy playing and learning how pneumatics works, using sensors and motors. Children will design and assemble robots and programmable machines using specialized software. Campers will compete with their robots in mini team competitions and demonstrate their projects in a Show & Tell to their parents and friends. Limited Space Available! Lunch and snacks included. No activities July 4.


Robotics Camp (Ages 14-18) – Free

Three-week Robotics Camp made possible by the U.S. Department of Education STEM EngInE (Engage-Intern-Educate) grant. At the end of camp, students participate in an exciting two-day Robotics Challenge where they compete in teams for prizes. Application required since limited spaces available. Limited to 50 students. Arts and Improv Summer Camp (Ages 6-12): (60 Hours) - $220

Have fun learning sculpture, painting, and drawing techniques to spark your imagination and creativity. Use various media such as acrylic paint, watercolor, charcoal, air dry clay, pencils and more. Develop your public speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills as you learn how to think on your feet with our improvisation classes. Show off your talent at our final exhibit/show. Before and after care included. Lunch is not included, but it is available for an additional fee.


Chinese Culture and Language Camp (Ages 6-12): (60 Hours) - $220

Develop cultural awareness and heighten your knowledge of global communities through interactive lessons and activities. Learn language basics to communicate in Mandarin Chinese, learn about the art of Chinese calligraphy, participate and host tea ceremonies, and learn martial art skills. Before and after care included. Lunch is not included, but it is available for an additional fee.

At MAGIC, the Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex at Miami Dade College, we encourage and inspire kids and teens to become the next generation of developers, animators, video game designers, programmers and mixed reality creators. Our MAGIC Summer Camps feature hands-on, project-based learning infused with the latest in the creative industries, animation, video game development, VR, 3D printing technology and equipment. Our state of the art labs are equipped with industry standard technology and software, a motion capture studio, audio recording studio and screening room.

3D Gaming Design Camp @ MAGIC (ages 14-19) - $395

Students will learn the premier 3D modeling, animation, effects, and rendering software packages on the market. Using the industry-standard, intuitive toolset featured in Autodesk® Maya® realistic 3D models will be created and prepare them for game play in a gaming engine. Pre-requisite: Basic computer skills.


Animation Camp @ MAGIC (ages 14-19) - $395

Students will get an introduction to character design and animation using Autodesk® Maya®, the application used by top video game development and film studios. Skills development will focus on the use of Autodesk ”Maya” and Adobe Photoshop. This class is project based; students will have the opportunity to complete a portfolio of their own animation. Pre-requisite: Basic computer skills.
