Description:
Whether you are creating Web lesson pages, other Web
pages, brochures, pamphlets, or presentations, you will certainly be
working with graphics. In order to achieve the “Look” that you want, you
will need to use graphics editing software. Adobe Photoshop, or simply
Photoshop, is such an
editing program. It is considered the industry standard for
graphics professionals. Photoshop Elements is an easier-to-use version
of Photoshop, which still retains many of Photoshop’s powerful tools.
This workshop will introduce you to graphic basics, and is a hands-on
overview of Photoshop Elements, its tools and capabilities.
Objectives
As a result of successful completion of the
workshop, participants will be able to:

Describe the
various graphic types and their advantages and disadvantages

Describe the
uses for the various file formats

Describe the
differences between Raster (Bitmap) and Vector graphics
-
Create simple
graphics using layers and text
-
Apply text
effects
-
Alter the
opacity of various elements in their graphic project

Add a layer
set to a project
-
Flatten layers
-
Save projects
in varying file formats
Delivery formats:
F2F - All sessions meet in a lab or classroom
Blended - At least 50 percent of the workshop time will be
spent online
Online - No class meetings; all work is done online.

How to Register
Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and
Registration system. The process for registering for a CTD
workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.
You can access the Registration System and register
for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to
login to your computer. Example: Richard
Johnson would be rjohnson (You will
NOT
need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD
workshop)
Make a note of the Reference Number for the
workshop then go to
Registration Instructions
Once you have registered for a class, you can print your
schedule. Please make every effort to attend once
you've registered as seats are limited.
However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web
Registration screen. CTD classes will
appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
If you need special assistance to
participate in this workshop due to a disability, please call CT&D at
