Description:
Math faculty will be engaged in a
discussion of the Student Achievement Initiatives (SAI) , as well as a
briefing on the results of the learning Outcome Assessments for general
Education and mathematics in particular. Participants will dialogue on
the meaning of those results and design a plan of action to improve
student learning to be implemented in fall 2013. Faculty members will
also facilitate breakout sessions to demonstrate effective mathematics
teaching practices to their colleagues.
Plan of Evaluation
Participants will draft a brief
reflection paper that responds to the content of the retreat and
identifies teaching methods and math applications that can be used in
their teaching practice. Participants will choose one math teaching
strategy or method to adopt in the next semester. the reaction paper is
due within two weeks of the retreat. Retreat Committee chairs will
certify completion of faculty work and the posting to the SharePoint
site created for the retreat.

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system. The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.
You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer. Example: Richard Johnson would be rjohnson (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop)
Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions
Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule. Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited. However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen. CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
