Length of Workshop:      12 hours
Prerequisite   Basic Computer Skills: Use Graphical interface    (Windows or Mac) and navigate various programs using the menu system and task and tool bars.
File Managements Skills: Organize files with folders and know how to access file on different drives.
Internet Skills: Browser and search skills.
Application Skills: Use Microsoft Word, *PowerPoint, and *FrontPage (*Recommended)

:
Overview of Online Teaching is a 12-hour online workshop designed to provide and online teaching and learning experience for faculty to gain skills to enable them to successfully teach and manage online courses.   Participants may earn up to 12 hours towards their professional development requirements by successfully completing this workshop.  It is highly recommended that faculty complete this workshop before enrolling in the Virtual College Certification.
 

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • List a variety of methods to provide regular online feedback
  • Identify appropriate times to conduct progress check-ups
  • Originate online classroom feedback activities
  • Use at least 3 types of online course evaluation tools such as rubrics, portfolios, self-tests, and surveys

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
