Description:
Participants in this seminar will explore how to create an assessment plan in less than 30 minutes and individualize it for each of their classes. This seminar will look at how you can use assessment in both small and large classrooms to create motivating learning experiences. We will explore how assessment activities can be used in pre-and post-learning situations and how you can get learner buy-in to these activities. The ideas presented will work in both large and small classes. During a face-to-face group discussion following the webinar, participants will identify at least three assessment strategies that they can use in their classes.

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish assessment from evaluation
  • Explain how to win learner buy-in to assessment activities
  • Describe strategies to engage learners through assessment activities
  • Use assessment tools as invigorating learning exercises
  • Explain strategies to address students' different learning styles
  • Create an assessment plan in less than 30 minutes
  • Identify at least three assessment strategies to be used in class

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
