Description:
Focused on the development of a protocol for academic advisors who
provide critical advisement support to military veterans, participants
will learn about what should be considered why working with military
veterans in order to help them have successful learning experiences.
Information related to benefits of having a campus-based Veterans
Resource Center (VRC) and guidelines for creating such a center will
also be covered.
Due to the many life experiences of military veterans related to
military culture, military training and encounters with traumatic
situations, etc,, adviser need to be equipped with an understanding of
how these experiences can result in academic challenges and low
retention rates for veterans.
Incorporating the benefits of a VRC That can help returning veterans
make a successful transition to college life, along with well-informed
academic advisers, a supportive academic environment is created
providing greater opportunity for veterans to achieve their academic
goals.

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system. The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.
You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer. Example: Richard Johnson would be rjohnson (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop)
Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions
Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule. Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited. However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen. CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
