Description:
Integrating Technology to the EAP Classroom and Virtual Learning introduce participants to a variety of free and easy-to-use web-based applications and resources designed to engage students, provide students with on-demand learning tools, and allow immediate feedback from students to assess their learning.  Workshop participants will become familiar with how to heighten content delivery with multimedia, social media websites, and smart device technologies.

In order to receive Professional Development Credit participants will complete an online module, which consists of creating a lesson plan integrating technology and EAP content within two weeks of the workshops. A member of the Project ACE Curriculum Writers Workshop will assess each lesson plan and evaluate each participant's completion.
 

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Articulate the philosophy and purposes of using technology to engage EAP students and enhance EAP students' speech, writing and comprehension
  • List and successfully use various web 2.0 applications for presentations, voice recordings, and student assessments
  • Create a lesson using Web 2.0 tools and social media websites

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
