* Approved CT&D Workshop for Faculty Professional Development hours.
Description:
This workshop,
part of a series, is designed to provide writing faculty with strategies
for meeting the challenges of today’s first-year composition classroom.
Each workshop includes an hour-long web seminar featuring lecture and
instruction of a key literacy expert on an important topic. Following
the seminar, there will be meaningful interaction and discussion among
the participants guided by a CTD facilitator. Finally, participants will
complete a required assignment that focuses on reflection and
application.
Many instructors freeze at the prospect of teaching
online, thinking of it as a vast, unknowable digital space requiring
specialized tools and, worse, specialized pedagogy. Not true. Writing
teaches can move into an online course by drawing from that most
familiar of places: Their own teaching experience. In this webinar about
teaching writing online, presenter Scott Warnock will provide
instructors with strategies for reflecting on one’s teaching strengths
and then converting those strengths into an online course experience.
