Description:
Three part webinar workshop designed to facilitate your campus team’s
learning as you design programmatic assessment plans. The ultimate
intention of this workshop is for you and your institutional team to
walk away from the 3-part workshop with a refined assessment plan and/or
report, depending on where you are in your assessment process. The
webinars are designed to be highly interactive with activities that you
complete and share with colleagues going through the workshop.
Session I will address the history and importance of outcomes-based assessment and components of an outcomes-based assessment plan and report and include activities such as:
Drafting a conceptual framework for assessment
Identifying a common language for OBA
Drafting a template for OBA
Drafting mission/purpose, goals, and outcomes
Self-critiquing of outcomes
Evaluating at least two other sets of peer outcomes
Note about activity: Participants will be able to post their completed activities on a website and view the activities of the other participants. A criteria check list will be provided so that participants can self-evaluate their learning and review the work of their peers. Although the speaker will not be able to provide individual feedback, she will review all completed activities and base the following session’s content on the progress/learning that is reflected in the activities.
Objectives
As a result of successful completion of the
workshop, participants will be able to:
Describe the history of Outcomes-Based Assessment (OBA)
Explain the purpose for OBA
Explain why OBA practice and documentation is so important
Identify the necessary components of an Outcomes-Based Assessment Plan and report (OBAP)
Align components of the OBAP with program review, annual planning, strategic planning, and budgeting processes
Explain the importance of evaluating student learning
Distinguish between learning goals and outcomes
Identify characteristics of measurable and meaningful outcomes

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system. The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.
You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer. Example: Richard Johnson would be rjohnson (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop)
Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions
Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule. Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited. However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen. CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
