Audience   Department Chairs, School Directors, Associate

Length of Workshop:       1.5  hours

Educational institutions are looking for the best formula to effectively deal with the plethora of social media available. There are so many questions and so few answers. Where should we start? What defines Social Media? Where are teens getting their “authentic” information? Is there a place for our institutional voice in all this user-generated content? What are the issues that academic managers should be concerned about? We will explore these questions together with Lourdes C. Balepogi, President of Chispa Marketing

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  •  Identify several forms of popular social media on the web
  •  Articulate the pros and cons of official college participation in user-generated content exchanges
  •  List key issues of concern for academic and student services personnel
  •  Explore this emerging area of student-faculty-college interaction on their own
  •  Participate in future discussions of college policy and procedures pertaining to social media
