Description: Participants on this program will learn the leadership skills needed by supervisors in the front line of the organization. The program will focus on the essential supervisory skills of maintaining positive work relationships, giving constructive feedback, getting ideas across, focusing energies on positive solutions, and recognizing results.

Objectives

 As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the benefits of applying the Basic Principles as fundamental leadership skills
  • Explain the value of constructive feedback as a tool for managing performance
  • Identify how getting ideas across relate to effectiveness as a leader
  • Explain the importance of dealing with disruptive emotional behavior so that attention can be refocused to positive productive effort
  • Know how to identify ways to handle reactions to another's emotional behaviors
  • Describe the impact recognizing positive results has on employees, peers, and managers
  • Explain the importance of establishing performance expectations with employees
  • Describe their role in motivating employees to reach optimal performance
  • Determine when it is appropriate to coach employees to reach optimal performance
  • Explain the benefits of taking corrective action, for the employee, the organization, and themselves as front-line leaders

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
