Description:
This workshop will begin with a brief introduction to the National Science Foundation (NSF) including its scope, purpose, and current priorities. Participants will receive information on the wide variety of NSF grant programs that are appropriate to MDC. Following this training, participants will have the opportunity to complete the NSF-required training in the Responsible Conduct of Research.

Following this NSF Grants workshop, the Responsible Conduct of Research online workshop will be introduced.  Interested participants are encouraged to enroll in this workshop as well, see CTD0768 flyer for details.  Because this workshop on Responsible Conduct of Research is online through ANGEL, participants must register in advance in order to access the program on April 22, 2010.

NOTE: Online Responsible Conduct of Research follows in same room after NSF Grants Workshop.

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Describe the purpose and funding priorities of NSF 
• Explain which NSF grant opportunities are most appropriate to their interests and programs
• Explain the types of assistance offered by Resource Development to NSF applicants
• Explain the steps needed to ensure the responsible and ethical conduct of research

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop) 

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
