Description:
 This on-line workshop is designed to prepare interviewers and screening committees to use a behavioral- based interviewing model. Participants will learn how to prepare an interview plan based upon thorough knowledge of the job and use skills such as: asking open-ended questions; taking notes; seeking contrary evidence; using rapport building questions; allowing for silence; controlling the interview; and avoiding illegal questions. Please note the special login information for this workshop listed below.*

You can begin this workshop at any time the day after you register, but all work must be completed by the end date of the workshop.     This workshop should take approximately 1hour; however, you do not have to complete it all at one time.  Since this online workshop has sound, your computer should have speakers or a headset.  If your computer does not have audio, please go to the CT&D lab on your campus to complete the program.    See open lab schedule.
 

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how to prepare an interview plan
  • Explain why the concept of "the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior" is so important to the behavior-based interview model
  • Explain why some questions cannot be asked legally in the interview process
  • Ask open ended questions
  • Seek contrary evidence
  • Use rapport-building questions
  • Control the interview

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop) 

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
