Description:
The Financial Aid/Single Stop Information Workshop Sessions will describe the services and benefits that Financial Aid/Single Stop can provide to assist students and family members. The workshop is designed to help participants in navigating the complexities of applying for financial aid. An overview of the financial aid processes, federal and state regulations updates, changes in eligibility and how it affects students will be provided. Information related to screening for benefits and financial counseling including: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) preparation, legal counseling and tax preparation services will also be covered.


 Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the benefits and services that Financial Aid/Single Stop can potentially provide to MDC students and family members 
  • Identify which students are most appropriate for Financial Aid/Single Stop referral
  • Identify and disseminate information on the location of Financial Aid/Single Stop and the appropriate route to refer students and family members
  • Explain how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Explain and understand the Satisfactory Academic Progress process for financial aid purposes

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop) 

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
