Workshop: SOE Adjunct Faculty Orientation

Course ID - CTD0800a

Short Title: SOE Adjunct Faculty

 Audience   SOE Adjunct Faculty
Length of Workshop:     3 hours

The Florida Department of Education requires that state-approved teacher education programs document students' academic progress and mastery of the Florida Educator's Accomplished Practice (FEAPs). Appropriate faculty support and guidance of students depends on an understanding of the relationship between the FEAPs, specific course assignments and MDC policy.
This workshop is designed to provide best teaching practices necessary for Teacher Education Program professors to effectively teach at the post-secondary level and update their knowledge of requirements associated with their roles: including course management tool, accountability, and the need for compliance with requirements.
Participants will learn about the importance of Florida Department of Education standards in relation to MDC learning outcomes and course competencies, inclusive of grading procedures.

* Adjunct faculty will be compensated at a rate of $20.00/hour upon successful completion of the workshop.  While you are welcome to take a workshop more than once, CTD can only compensate adjunct faculty for the first time that they take one of these workshops.

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Implement strategies that support the infusion of competencies in specific courses as approved by the Florida Department of education
  • Implement meaningful assignments for student completion during field experiences, which are clearly linked to course content and Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs)
  • Describe successful practices utilizing media, activities embedded within course specific methodologies, traditional and alternative forms of assessment aligned to FEAPs, and effective grading/recording procedures
