Workshop: SOE Adjunct Faculty Educator Preparation Institute

Course ID - CTD0800c

Short Title: SOE Adjunct EPI

 Audience    Adjunct Faculty
Length of Workshop:       3 hours

The Florida Department of Education requires that state-approved teacher education programs document students' academic progress and mastery of the Florida Educator's Accomplished Practices (FEAPs). Appropriate faculty support and guidance of students depends on an understanding of the relationship between the FEAPs, specific course assignments, and MDC policy. This workshop is designed to provide best teaching practices necessary for the Teacher Education Program professors to effectively teach at the postsecondary level and to update their knowledge of requirements associated with their roles, which included course management tools, accountability, and the need for student compliance with requirements. Participants will learn about the importance of Florida Department of Education standards in relation to MDC learning outcomes and course competencies, inclusive of grading procedures.

* Adjunct faculty will be compensated at a rate of $20.00/hour upon successful completion of the workshop.  While you are welcome to take a workshop more than once, CTD can only compensate adjunct faculty for the first time that they take one of these workshops.

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify new EPI curriculum revisions being implemented fall 2012
  • Explain the relationship between recent state revisions to the FEAPs and the meaningful implementation of student assignments for completion during field experiences
  • Describe successful practices utilizing media activities embedded within course specific methodologies, traditional and alternative forms of assessments aligned to FEAPs, and effective grading/recording procedures. These practices will be presented within the context of accountability
