Description:
This workshop is designed to orient the new nursing faculty to their
role as a clinical instructor in nursing. The workshop is a basic
orientation to the School of Nursing policies and procedures for
clinical courses. The workshop will also give instructors tips on
how to organize and assist students meet course objectives and summative
evaluation requirements.
Objectives
As a result of successful completion of the
workshop, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the role of the course coordinator, chair,
and director in the School of Nursing
- Identify the clinical instructor's role when
receiving a clinical assignment from the department
- Plan a clinical day which will enhance student
learning
- Identify the clinical summative evaluation tools
used to validate student learning
- Identify strategies to enhance the interface and
relevance between lecture and clinical experiences such as
curriculum framework, objectives, course lectures and testing
schedule
- Discuss teaching strategies that enhance
cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills in the clinical setting
- Complete a sample critical thinking and care plan
and reach consensus on the correct responses
- Identify the instructor's responsibility when a
student is failing to progress toward course objectives.

How to Register
Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and
Registration system. The process for registering for a CTD
workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.
You can access the Registration System and register
for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to
login to your computer. Example: Richard
Johnson would be rjohnson (You will
NOT
need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD
workshop)
Make a note of the Reference Number for the
workshop then go to
Registration Instructions
Once you have registered for a class, you can print your
schedule. Please make every effort to attend once
you've registered as seats are limited.
However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web
Registration screen. CTD classes will
appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
If you need special assistance to
