* Approved CT&D Workshop for Faculty Professional Development hours.

 

Description:
This interdisciplinary workshop will help faculty add a global perspective to their courses. Faculty will discover ways to enhance a chosen course with a global component and make connections with other faculty who can assist in accomplishing this goal.

To be awarded FPD credit, faculty will submit a proposal showing how they plan to infuse the global component into their selected course. The proposal will include a description of the activity, a brief lesson, a course syllabus specifying where the activity fits within the syllabus, and the name of collaborating faculty if applicable. Proposals are due within two weeks of the workshop and must be posted to the Share point site devoted to this purpose.

 

The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Carl Jubran, who is currently the President of the Institute for American Universities in Aix-en-Provence, France


 Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify sources/elements with a global perspective related to discipline for possible inclusion into a particular course of choice
  • Select which of these sources/elements best fits in with their chosen course
  • Develop a global perspective activity (or activities) to enhance the chosen course
  • Write a description of the activity (or activities)
  • Incorporate this activity (or activities) into syllabus
  • Reinforce College's Learning Outcome 5 and the College's Strategic Goals 20, 21, and 22

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
