Description: This workshop is designed to assist faculty in nurturing views that are compatible with the Earth's systems and to encourage faculty to apply these views across the disciplines into the curriculum at M-DCC.

* Approved CT&D Workshop for Professional Development Credit.


 As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Examine their personal experiences, memories, and reflections on the natural world, as well as their connection to place
  • Explain the foundations of their own cosmology and world view and discuss ways in which various historic and cultural paradigms influence how they see the world, how paradigm determines choice and ways educational systems tend to shape our perceptions
  • Discuss questions about science and spirituality
  • Examine ethical considerations that relate to developing value systems that guide actions, self correct, integrate with their beliefs and lead to a standard of ethics for a sustainable earth community
  • Discuss possible directions toward appropriate solutions to environmental destruction
  • Describe ways to effectively incorporate Earth Literacy concepts into their curriculum, as well as explore transdisciplinary collaboration

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop)  The first time you log in to the Registration Page, you will be asked to accept the Use of Computing Resources at Miami Dade College.    The Accept button is located at the bottom of the screen.

PLEASE NOTE:  You do not have to create a student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop.  You can use your regular network login name and password proceeded by the MDCC\   
  1. Go to the MDC Registration Page.
  2. Choose the Term from the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter your PIN number (If you don't remember your PIN, you can reset it by clicking the Update My Pin button.)
  4. Click the  myMDC  Log In button.
  5. Log in  using your regular username and password.  Your username must be proceeded by the MDCC\

ex.   Joe Smith would login in with

User name -  mdcc\jsmith and his regular password.

Once logged in, you should use Speed Registration.  You must know the Reference number for the workshop you want to take.   You can still  search for workshops using the Course ID or Short title, if you click on Shopping Cart.    The best way to register is by  Reference number.

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
