Description: The goal of this program is to provide the skills required for fostering a collaborative environment where decision making is shared by employees and every person needs to take initiative. The program focuses on the leadership challenges everyone faces in today's less centrally controlled organizations.


 As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define constructive feedback
  • Explain why everyone in the organization needs to be able to give and receive constructive feedback in a spirit of openness and mutual respect
  • Know how to use the Key Actions to give constructive feedback
  • Know how to use various techniques for receiving constructive feedback
  • Describe the role of a coach
  • Explain why everyone in the organization needs to be a coach
  • Describe how coaching can benefit themselves, others, and the larger organization
  • Identify behaviors that help foster a supportive coaching environment
  • Demonstrate a variety of asking and listening techniques to coach others formally and informally
  • Use the Key Actions to conduct a coaching session
  • Explain why emotions are normal and can even be helpful in work situations
  • Identify situations where emotional behavior is inhibiting productive discussion
  • Explain why the ability to maintain composure at work, or to regain it quickly, is an important skill
  • Identify ways to manage their own reactions to the emotional behavior of others
  • Use appropriate techniques to diffuse emotional behavior when it hinders progress in a work discussion
  • Describe the benefits of applying the Basic Principles as fundamental leadership skills
  • Explain the importance of establishing performance expectations with employees

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop)  The first time you log in to the Registration Page, you will be asked to accept the Use of Computing Resources at Miami Dade College.    The Accept button is located at the bottom of the screen.

PLEASE NOTE:  You do not have to create a student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop.  You can use your regular network login name and password proceeded by the MDCC\   
  1. Go to the MDC Registration Page.
  2. Choose the Term from the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter your PIN number (If you don't remember your PIN, you can reset it by clicking the Update My Pin button.)
  4. Click the  myMDC  Log In button.
  5. Log in  using your regular username and password.  Your username must be proceeded by the MDCC\

ex.   Joe Smith would login in with

User name -  mdcc\jsmith and his regular password.

Once logged in, you should use Speed Registration.  You must know the Reference number for the workshop you want to take.   You can still  search for workshops using the Course ID or Short title, if you click on Shopping Cart.    The best way to register is by  Reference number.

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
