Community Engagement and Residency Activities

Although less visible than the performances, the residency component of Cultura del Lobo is vital to the mission of MDC’s Cultural Affairs Department, which not only strives to present excellence in the performing arts, but to also develop future artists and audiences through educational outreach. Most of the artists who perform each season share their experience and talent during extended residencies. Some residencies aim to build new audiences while others provide professional development opportunities to local artists. Others address the social issues explored in the artist’s work while still more focus on technique or history.

We strive to make our programs accessible by choosing performance venues and residency partners in neighborhoods throughout Miami-Dade County; presenting work from diverse cultures and in different languages; and providing low-cost group sale tickets and free tickets to select organizations. Cultura del Lobo artists reach children in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, students of Miami Dade College and the community at large through numerous neighborhood community and cultural centers.
