Welcome to the 2007-2008 Season

Welcome

Come take a journey through Arab and Middle Eastern traditions. Contemplate what it means to be a citizen of both the U.S. and the World. Bridge continents and cultures, and explore themes of acceptance, belonging and intimacy. And, enjoy evenings of energetic entertainment. All of this waits for you in the 2007-2008 Cultura del Lobo Performance Series.

Welcome to our 17th year. This season, we’re proud to welcome the high energy of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra as well as the Paquito D’Rivera Quintet’s mixture of jazz, rock and traditional Cuban music. We’re also excited to take you on a journey of art and exploration. Compagnie Thor’s D’Orient will explore Middle Eastern life through provocative dance. The complexities of America’s identity will be examined in poet Sekou Sundiata’s the 51st (dream) state. Two dance companies – Urban Bush Women and Compagnie Jant-Bi – will join forces to connect audiences with the African Diaspora. This will be one of our richest seasons yet.

The Cultura del Lobo Performance Series is brought to you by Miami Dade College’s Cultural Affairs Department. Our mission is to produce and present the newest, most challenging contemporary work that explores both the uniqueness of different cultures and how they interact with one another. We are committed to bringing exceptional national and international performing artists to the region, commissioning new work, and providing residency opportunities that allow artists to engage students and the community in their artistic process.

Last season, thousands attended our performances, classes and community lectures. Join us for another year of unforgettable experiences.
