Inbal Pinto Dance Company

Shaker

The Spanish Harlem Orchestra

The ordinarily tropical climate of South Florida is set to change to a cold, grey and yet eerily beautiful winter day, when Israel’s internationally acclaimed contemporary dance troupe returns to Miami with Shaker. This dance theater piece is the creative pursuit of the wildly imaginative and unpredictable team of choreographer Inbal Pinto and director Avshalom Pollak, and takes its inspiration from the glass globes that fill with snowflakes when shaken. The world inside the shaker is magical and enchanted, but not necessarily happy – it has both good and evil, joy and sadness. The provocative movement vocabulary that is a seamless blend of modern dance, ballet, mime and acrobatics is interspersed with unique humor and intellectual thought. The performance of SHAKER coincides with the 60th anniversary of Israel being celebrated globally in 2008.

“Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak’s latest work, Shaker, is so
beautiful that it hurts. … It is definitely one of their best works ever..”

– The Jerusalem Post
