Purpose
The Earth Ethics Institute (EEI) of Miami Dade College sponsors this
contest as a way to engage students in exploring alternatives to
traditional energy resources, as well understand alternative
resource viability.
Awards
1st Place- $200
2nd Place- $150
3rd Place- $50
Special Category Awards (4)- $25 each
Eligibility
All MDC-Wolfson students may participate.
Length:
6-8 minutes Persuasive Speech on the assigned topic
Speech Requirements:
Speech must be substantially original work, identifying quoted
material while presenting.
No Visual Aids:
No visual aids will be permitted during the contest.
Judging:
A panel of five judges from the English, Communication, and Earth
Ethics disciplines will score each speech on a standardized critique
form.
Criteria Include: content and analysis, delivery, and language
Entry Requirements:
Fill out Cover Sheet and attach 1) your speech outline or
manuscript, 2) complete bibliography (www.workscited4you.com
for MLA format), and 3) graded critique from your instructor OR

Research and support material is necessary for a successful speech.
