2009 Festival Film Guide

World Issues/ World Films

Risk, Reward and Responsibility

Through its World Issues: World Films Program and its many Community Outreach Screenings, the Miami International Film Festival has grown into its role as an organization that engages, educates and activates communities through the medium of film.

World Issues: World Films screenings take place during the Festival and include post-screening discussions with filmmakers and community representatives. These screenings and discussions tackle important contemporary issues and provide audiences with avenues toward action.

MIFF's 26th Anniversary World Issues: World Film program will turn inwards to explore the filmmaker's responsibility to their subjects. This year, World Issues: World Film has added the key words "risk, reward and responsibility" to the dialogue. Conversations will take the form of a director's studio and will be hosted by three of Miami's leading film critics and journalists after each screening.
